East Side Soccer

East Side Soccer is an independent youth soccer league committed to providing a supportive and inspiring environment in which players learn and develop the skills and concepts of soccer. Our oldest and largest program is Recreation Soccer. We also have an Advanced Development program and a Referee program.

Recreation Soccer
We are an all-volunteer, outdoor, independent recreational league, serving primarily the City of Syracuse (NY) East and its adjacent suburbs. We are committed to providing a non-competitive environment to youth in grades K through 8, to teach the skills and concepts of soccer.

Referees

East Side Soccer hires multiple referees to officiate on Saturday mornings for the ESS Recreation program (fall and spring).

Preference is given to current and past ESS players who are WNYSRA certified referees. We currently have enough referees for Spring 2023.

Entry level referee course. See https://www.eastsidesoccer.org/referees

1/2 Girls Winter Soccer - Second Session

1st and 2nd grade (ages 6-8) girls come join us for winter soccer, February - April! We practice twice per week, Mondays and Wednesdays, at 5:30pm at St Matthews School in East Syracuse. Games are on Saturday mornings at CNY Family Sports Center (Jones Road). Cost is $250. Reach out to Dave Larsen with interest (davilarsen@gmail.com).

Adv. Dev. Program

All players (1/2, 3/4, 5/6) who would like to play with an ESS ADP team this winter should plan to attend ADP Evaluations being held next week.

Monday, October 24, 5:30-6:30 pm
Barry Park
1/2 Boys, 1/2 Girls
3/4 Boys, 3/4 Girls

Thursday, October 27, 5:30-6:30 pm
Barry Park
3/4 Boys, 3/4 Girls
5/6 Boys, 5/6 Girls

3/4 Boys and Girls can attend either day.

Season details will be given by coaches at the Evaluations.

For players new to ADP, ADP gives players who would like to train and play indoors over the winter the opportunity to continue to develop their skills beyond what is offered during recreation soccer in fall and spring. Due to the cost of renting indoor practice space and indoor league fees, ADP is more expensive than ESS Recreation, but ESS does everything possible to make ADP affordable for everyone who is interested.

If your player is interested in ADP but cannot make the Evaluations, please contact president@eastsidesoccer.org. If you are interested but have questions, please consider attending the Evaluations where you will have a chance to meet the coaches and discuss the program with them.

Respect the Ref

By ESS Web Manager 05/24/2023, 2:00pm EDT

Respect for referees begins with recreation soccer. Our referees are ESS alums who have been certified by WNYSRA. Many are high school players and some are as young as 13. Many are reffing for the first time this spring. We are grateful for our new and returning refs who will allow us to provide refs for all of our games this spring and next fall.

Any concerns with a referee should be brought to the attention of the Referee Coordinator. Please refrain from challenging referee calls during games.
